9 COSSPP tenure-track faculty promoted

FSU College of Social Sciences and Public Policy Tenured Faculty Promotions 2023

The College of Social Sciences and Public Policy announced the promotions of nine faculty members for the 2022-2023 promotion and tenure cycle.

In total, the promotions added three full Professors and six new Associate Professors.

Promoted to full Professor:

Dawn Carr, Ph.D. – Sociology
Dr. Carr started at FSU in 2016 and has been an Associate Professor of Sociology since 2019. She added Director of the Claude Pepper Center to her resume in May of last year and serves as a Faculty Associate with the Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy.

Katrinell Davis, Ph.D. – Sociology
Dr. Davis, who is also the Director of the African American Studies Program, started as an Associate Professor of Sociology in 2017.

Michael Duncan, Ph.D. – Department of Urban & Regional Planning
Dr. Duncan has been at FSU since 2012 in the Urban and Regional Planning Program. He is also the Director of the Ph.D. Program.

Promoted to Associate Professor:

Tyler McCreary, Ph.D. – Geography
Dr. McCreary joined FSU in 2016 as an assistant professor of Geography.

James E. Wright II, Ph.D. – Askew School of Public Administration
Dr. Wright started at FSU in 2018 and received one of the Florida Education Fund’s 2021-2022 McKnight Junior Faculty Development Fellowships.

Mathew Hauer, Ph.D. – Sociology
Dr. Hauer started as an Assistant Professor at FSU and currently serves as the Assistant Director for the Center for Demography and Population Health. He’s also a two-time FSU graduate (BS ’07, Sociology; MS ’08, Demography).

Patricia Homan, Ph.D. – Sociology
Dr. Homan came to FSU as an Assistant Professor in 2018. She’s also the Associate Director of the Public Health Program, a Faculty Associate for the Pepper Institute on Aging and Public Policy, and a Research Associate for the Center for Demography and Population Health.

Li Fang, Ph.D. – Department of Urban & Regional Planning
Dr. Fang joined FSU as an Assistant Professor in 2018. She’s earned several awards while at FSU, including the 2021 College of Social Science and Public Policy Teaching Award.

Tisha Holmes, Ph.D. – Department of Urban & Regional Planning
Dr. Holmes started at FSU as an Assistant Professor in 2015. She also serves as an Affiliate Faculty for the Resilient Infrastructure and Disaster Response Center at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and a Courtesy Professor for FSU’s College of Law.

All the promotions are set to become official at the start of the 2023 Fall Semester.
