Minor Requirements

A total of 15 credit hours are required for the minor, which consists of nine credit hours of compulsory courses, three credit hours of core courses, and three credit hours of approved supplementary courses. The nine hours of African American Studies compulsory courses must include: AFA 2000, AFA 3101, and AFA 3330 or AFA 4240. The approved course list may be found here.

Students must earn a 2.0 or higher GPA in minor coursework, with no grade below C-. Contact the undergraduate Academic Program Specialist for African American Studies for more information.
