Inclusion Excellence Plan

Background

With its foundations in the social sciences and public policy fields, the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy is deeply interested in issues of identity, race, politics, gender, justice, ethnicity, and economic outcomes. These issues are central to our faculty research, core to our curricula, and an integral part of our university and community engagement. Given this tradition, the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy has a particular responsibility to reflect on, respond to, and advance inclusion and excellence for all members of the college’s community.

The 2021 COSSPP Action Plan

Building upon Florida State University’s efforts to advance inclusion and excellence, and flowing from guidance from the Board of Governors in the wake of the George Floyd incident, the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy (COSSPP) created a COSSPP Action Plan in 2021. This plan was developed by a committee of faculty, staff, and students over the course of a two-year period. The committee was charged with making clear that inclusion and excellence are central to the college’s curriculum, research, service, and culture.

This COSSPP Action Plan established goals, strategies, and tasks that have shaped college activities in the years since. Like the COSSPP Strategic Plan, the COSSPP Action Plan is a living document, requiring regular review, revision, and updates. The college will be updating this document in the 2024-2025 academic year.
