Registration for Fall 2026 classes
If you have not yet registered for Fall 2026 classes, do so as soon as possible and secure your seats.
- Fall 2026 General List of University-Wide Reserve Cap Information
- Fall 2026 COSSPP-Specific Reserve Cap Information
- Fall 2026 registration reopened: Monday, July 13, 2026 at 12:01 am – Sunday, August 9, 2026 at 11:59 pm.
- Fall 2026 Drop/Add registration will open: Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 12:01 am – Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 11:59 pm.
Grades for the Summer 2026 semester will post to records on Wednesday, August 5 – review your grades and make any needed schedule adjustments prior to registration closing.
Even if you have not met with an academic advisor this semester to check your remaining requirements, you can still register for classes. Use available online tools to build your schedule: previous advising reports in Campus Connect, or Stellic to build a preliminary schedule. Note: Stellic does not always read all major requirements with 100% accuracy, but it does provide a starting point for reference and good guidance for remaining CoreFSU and Liberal Studies requirements.
Remember: if you have not spoken with an advisor this semester, continue to register but be sure to speak with someone and make any needed adjustments to your schedule prior to the start of Fall classes.
Transient Course Applications
Review all transient coursework policies here. By submitting a transient application with our office, you acknowledge all of the policies listed on our site.
The University deadline for applications to take transient courses is August 1. Applications submitted after the deadline are not guaranteed approval.
- Applications to take courses through a Florida public institution must be submitted through FloridaShines.
- Those wishing to take courses through a non-Florida or private institution must complete and submit the PDF transient student form.
- Students taking classes through the FSU-FAMU cooperative program should not submit a standard transient application but must complete the co-op application for that separate process.
Additional information about transient processes and policies may be found on our Transient Coursework information page.
Meeting with an academic advisor
Academic advising for all undergraduate majors in COSSPP is conducted through the Office of Academic Affairs advising office.
Previous advising reports can also be found in Campus Connect.
Information about how to scheduling an advising appointment or joining virtual drop-ins, including information about days with limited availability, can be found on the Appointments & Virtual Drop-ins information page of our website.
Note: Updated Fall 2026 advising hours and availability will be implemented on August 31, 2026.
Advising availability will be adjusted during the first week of classes for Fall 2026. Information for August 24 – 28 can be found on our drop/add advising information page.
Summer 2026 grades, academic standing, and drop petitions
Review the dates and deadlines below related to the end of the Spring semester.
Grades
Grades for Summer 2026 classes are official when they post to student transcripts on Wednesday, August 5. Summer 2026 semester ends on Friday, July 31.
- Questions about any final grades? You must first contact the class instructor.
- Grades shown in a Canvas gradebook are not official and there may be differences in the grade listed in Canvas and the official grade on your transcript.
- Students wishing to dispute any final grade in a class must start the process by contacting their instructor as part of the formal grade appeal process.
- For information, contact the University Student Ombuds office
Incomplete Grades
Information on incomplete grades and incomplete grade extensions are listed in the FSU bulletin.
- You should work with your instructor prior to the end of the semester to complete an incomplete grade agreement.
- If you have an incomplete from a previous semester, your grade should be resolved with your instructor prior to the end of the current semester.
- No grade changes will be made to default grades or unresolved “I” grades after the degree has been granted.
- Questions about your incomplete grade? Contact your instructor.
Academic Standing
If a student’s cumulative FSU GPA falls below a 2.0, they are placed on academic probation.
- Those on academic probation who fail to raise their cumulative FSU above 2.0 for a second consecutive semester are at risk of academic dismissal.
- All upper-division students not in good academic standing will receive additional information from the COSSPP Office of Academic Affairs after grades post.
- You can expect an email notification from our office by the end of business on Friday, August 7.
- This email will contain information on what to expect with academic recovery advising that will take place.
- A hold will be placed on your account on August 7 to prevent future registration changes until you complete your recovery advising appointment with one of our academic advisors.
- The grades you need to earn to get back into good academic standing will be discussed during the recovery advising appointments.
Drop Petitions
Questions about course drops (one or more, but not all) or semester withdrawals (all courses from your schedule) often come up at this point in the semester.
- For answers to most questions related to course drops and withdrawals, review the Drop and Withdrawals FAQ section on our website.
- After the end of the 12th week of classes, course drops and withdrawals may only be initiated on the basis of documented medical, mental health, or personal hardship circumstances.
- Turnaround time: This is a peak busy time of the semester. For medical/mental health petitions, recommendations may take several weeks to a month before our office receives a course drop recommendation from the University Health Services Course Drop Committee after you submit documentation to their office.
- Personal Hardship Petitions: If you have already been working with Case Management or the Victim’s Advocate Program at FSU, inquire if they are able to send our office a Letter of Support for your course drops upon the submission of your petition.
- If you have not been working with these offices, you may still contact them for additional support based on your extenuating circumstances you faced in any given semester.
- Course drops and semester withdrawals can be retroactive; meaning after grades post for any given semester, those grades can be dropped at any point you petition (except after a degree has been posted).
- Dissatisfaction with the grade earned in a class or a desire to protect GPA are not grounds in themselves for petitioning for a course drop.
All drop and withdrawals petitions for upper-division COSSPP students are initiated online through the College’s Drop and Withdrawal Petition Application.
- Lower-division students (pre-majors) must contact the Office of Undergraduate Studies as their academic dean’s office to discuss course drops or withdrawals.
- Double major or dual degree students with a primary major or degree in another college must contact that respective academic dean’s office.
Declare your minor or concentration for COSSPP majors
Students with a primary major in COSSPP may declare a minor through our online minors request form if their major requires a minor. Concentrations in COSSPP majors may also be declared through the same form.
- You must be certified into your major (not a pre-major) before officially declaring a minor or concentration.
- Allow up to a two business weeks for processing of your request. Questions about your request should be sent to the COSSPP Mapping Coordinator at COSSPP-Admissions-Mapping@fsu.edu.
- Dual degree students with a degree in another college: minors for the non-COSSPP degrees must be declared through that respective Dean’s office.
