Fall 2026 registration is currently open and will close on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. We encourage you to finalize your schedule as soon as possible.
Before completing your registration, we strongly recommend meeting with your academic advisor to review your schedule, verify your remaining degree requirements, and ensure you are on track for your academic goals. If you are planning to graduate in Fall 2026, your advisor can also confirm that your schedule satisfies your remaining graduation requirements.
Please note that registration will not reopen until the Fall 2026 Drop/Add period, which runs Saturday, August 22, through Thursday, August 27, 2026. Students who register during the Late Registration period (August 24–27) will incur a $100 late registration fee. Find more information on the University Calendar.

Consider Enrolling in 15 Hours
Florida State University encourages undergraduate students to enroll in 15 hours during the fall and spring semesters when appropriate for their academic plan.
Enrolling in approximately 15 credit hours may:
- Help you stay on track for timely graduation.
- Support stronger academic success, as FSU research has shown that students taking approximately 15 credit hours tend to earn higher GPAs and are more likely to graduate on time.
- Help you maintain flexibility if you need to drop a course during the semester while remaining enrolled full-time.
- Be required for certain scholarships or help you maximize the financial aid and loans for which you are eligible.
Planning to Complete Transient Coursework?
If you plan to complete transient coursework during Fall 2026, please let your academic advisor know while planning your schedule. Approved transient coursework is not included in your registered FSU credit hours for the semester and does not count toward the enrollment totals referenced above.

Planning to Graduate in Fall 2026?
If you plan to graduate this fall:
- You are encouraged to register only for the coursework needed to complete your remaining degree requirements.
- Students completing one major or a double major must earn a minimum of 120 total degree hours.
- Students completing a dual degree must earn a minimum of 150 total degree hours.
If your remaining degree requirements require fewer than 12 credit hours, you may not need to enroll full-time. Before enrolling in fewer than 12 credit hours, contact the Office of Student Finance to determine how an underload during your graduating semester may affect your financial aid, scholarships, loans, or other benefits.
Before Enrolling Below Full-Time
Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours during the fall and spring semesters are considered full-time.
If you are considering enrolling in fewer than 12 credit hours, please contact the Office of Student Finance before finalizing your schedule. Enrolling below full-time—or dropping below full-time after the semester begins—may affect:
- Financial aid eligibility
- Bright Futures Scholarship
- Grants and scholarships
- Student loans
- Tuition and fee assessments
- Other benefits tied to full-time enrollment
Depending on your financial aid program, dropping below full-time during the semester may also require repayment of financial aid or student loan funds associated with the dropped credit hours. Because every student’s financial aid package is different, only the Office of Student Finance can determine how your enrollment may affect your individual eligibility.
Planning to Enroll in 19-21 Credit Hours?
For Upper-Division Students wishing to enroll in 19–21 credit hours for Fall 2026 must submit a Course Overload Request Form. The form is currently available, and we encourage you to submit your request as soon as possible to allow sufficient time for review.
Lower-Division students should contact their academic dean’s office in Undergraduate Studies at undergraduatestudies@fsu.edu.
Final Reminders
Before Fall 2026 registration closes:
- Meet with your academic advisor to verify your schedule and confirm you are on track for degree completion or Fall 2026 graduation.
- Resolve any holds on your account that may be preventing registration.
- Contact the Office of Student Finance if you are considering enrolling in fewer than 12 credit hours or have any other questions about the financial implications of your enrollment.
- If you plan to graduate in Fall 2026, remember to submit your graduation application between September 1 and September 11, 2026.
