Spring 2025 Registration Reminders (Undergraduate)

These reminders were originally sent to COSSPP undergraduate students on October 6, 2024, prior to the start of registration for the Spring 2025 semester.

Students with priority registration and Seniors (90+ earned hours) can register starting the week of October 7. Students not in these groups register later, based on their total earned hours.

Check Student Center (my.fsu.edu) to verify your registration date.

  3. Check and clear any holds prior to registration

Meeting with an Advisor

This information applies to students on the Tallahassee campus. Students at FSU Panama City or FSU Republic of Panama should refer to advising offices on their respective campus.

The priority for advising before October 21 are students who can register before that date. As you have a later registration date, you should wait to to speak with an advisor until on or after October 21.

Who is your advisor? If you are pursuing a primary major in the College of Social Sciences & Public Policy, advising services are provided by the Office of Academic Affairs. Faculty or staff outside of this office may consult on your major requirements but cannot certify your graduation requirements for the College.

Virtual Drop-ins: All drop-ins are completed virtually through our moderated Zoom call in order to most efficiently meet with students.

  • Please be patient as advisors meet with students in the order that they sign in, as efficiently as possible.
  • Wait times may be lengthy to speak with an advisor will likely be lengthy and advisor capacity is often exceeded.
  • The first two weeks of registration have the highest volume advising of the semester.

Scheduled Appointments:Schedule appointments through Campus Connect. Availability opens 3 weeks in advance but often fully books during the start of registration.

Dates with limited advising availability: Certain days and times over the next month may have limited advising availability. They include:

  • October 9 (limited AM availability)
  • October 21 (no PM availability)
  • October 1 (no PM availability)
  • October 8 (no PM availability)
  • November 11 (FSU closed for Veterans Day)

How you can prepare to register

Review the information below and email any questions to coss-advising@fsu.edu.

  1. The focus for advising during October is Spring 2025 class schedules.
    1. Dual degree petitions, Degree in Three plans, or prelaw advising will be required to schedule an appointment, if and as they are available.
    2. If you met with an advisor since drop/add to review your requirements, build a schedule off that advising sheet. Schedule checks can wait until peak registration has finished.
  2. Build a schedule, register, and secure your seats as soon as possible.
    1. You are not required to meet with an advisor before registering for classes – you can always adjust your schedule later.
    2. You do not have to have a complete schedule to register for classes – register for even one class if you know that it is required or a milestone for you in the next term.
  3. Use available online tools to build your scheduleaccess the Academic Requirements Report or previous advising reports in Campus Connect to build a preliminary schedule. The ARR does not always read all major requirements entirely correctly, but it will give you a starting point for reference and good guidance for remaining General Education and Liberal Studies requirements.
  4. Allow 2-4 business days for an email response from an advisor.
    1. If you send an email on a Thursday or Friday, do not send a follow-up message over the weekend as advisors do not check email outside of work hours.
    2. Do not email multiple advisors the same request as it can slow down response time.
    3. The best way to ensure a timely response is to email coss-advising@fsu.edu.
