Updates and Reminders | June 14, 2021

Good morning students,

As we near the midpoint of the Summer semester, there are several important announcements and reminders this week. Today’s message includes information about

  1. Summer C Drop/Add – June 19-24
  2. Summer C Drop/Add advising availability
  3. Late applying to graduate in Summer
  4. Accessing virtual advising services
  5. In-person advising appointment availability
  6. Upcoming and remaining Summer important dates
    • Summer A
    • Summer C

Advising Tip of the Week: Beat the Fall Drop/Add lines. Sign in for drop-in advising through Campus Connect in July – which typically has the shortest advising lines of the year – and make sure to adjust your schedule during open registration July 15-30 instead of waiting for Drop/Add.

The Summer C Drop/Add period opens at 12:01 AM on Saturday, June 19

  1. Dates for the full drop/add period are 12:01 am, June 19 – 11:59 PM, June 24.
  2. You must have registered for at least one (1) credit hour prior to 12:00 am, June 21, or the University may apply a $100 late registration fee to your account.
  3. Check your schedule and drop any unwanted courses before 11:59 pm, June 24, to avoid fee and grade liability. You are fee liable for all classes on your schedule after 11:59pm on June 24, even if you believe that you should be dropped due to first-day non-attendance.

Advising availability and accessibility is altered June 21-25.

Read carefully for advising availability and staff contact information.

  1. Advising staff email availability: Please allow at least 2 business days for advisors to respond. Repeatedly emailing the same question may delay a response as new messages bump email threads to the end of the email queue.
  2. Drop/Add advising availability: June 21-25 – all advising will be accessed via moderated Zoom call at the link below. Students may sign in from 8:30-11:30 AM and 1:00-3:30 PM. Students must be signed in through their FSU account to access the call.
Note: there may be an extended wait time before being admitted to the main Zoom call depending on how many students are in line.

  3. Normal advising hours resume June 28 – Advising services will continue to be accessible virtually through Campus Connect. For information on how to schedule an appointment or access virtual drop-ins, see the how-to guide on our website.

To late apply for Summer 2021 graduation, you must meet with a COSSPP academic advisor.

An advisor will complete an updated academic progress check to verify you are on track to graduate and you will need to submit it and a completed late add to graduation application information form.

  1. Participation in a commencement ceremony is not the same as graduating. Once grades post to student accounts on August 4, the Academic Dean’s office will begin processing final graduation clearances. Students who do not achieve required or satisfactory grades to complete their degree requirements will be notified by email. Degrees will post to transcripts on August 26.
  2. You will not be added to the graduation list unless you are currently on track to complete all requirements with your current enrollment and already posted credit.
  3. Additional information – including important dates and cap and gown details – can be found on the Registrar’s website.

Accessing virtual advising services through Campus Connect

All COSSPP advising services are accessible through Campus Connect. Our online how-to guide shows step-by-step how to access either scheduled appointments or virtual drop-ins.

Morning (after 9:30 am) and early afternoon (before 2:00 pm) drop-in availability is often limited the first week of July as our advisors also meet with incoming students for Orientation advising.

In-person advising availability will return for appointments in Summer C

In-person scheduled appointments will be available starting the week of June 28. Virtual scheduled appointments will continue to be available at the same times. Note that all drop-ins will still be conducted virtually.

  1. Appointments – virtual or in-person – will still be scheduled through Campus Connect. Scheduling availability for in-person services will be visible in Campus Connect starting June 24.
  2. Remember that the Centers for Disease Control and Florida State University recommend that all unvaccinated individuals wear a mask while indoors and in enclosed locations when interacting with others.
