Agree to Disagree 2024: Florida Politics

Agree to Disagree is a collaboration the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy Student Leadership Council (SLC) and Power of WE created that enables students from across the political spectrum to engage in civil conversation about current issues to create mutual understanding and respect.

Agree to Disagree will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd at 5:30PM in the FSU Honors, Scholars, and Fellows House Great Hall. Check-in begins at 5:00PM; please arrive at least 10 minutes early. Food and drinks will be provided. Register here to reserve your spot!

When you register using the link in our bio, you will be asked your political ideology. From there, the you will be placed at a table with people with varying political beliefs. You will be given a set of questions to discuss with the group in a round-table style. We invite students of all backgrounds, beliefs, and opinions to come together and share insightful discussion over dinner focusing on this year’s theme: Florida politics.

This year’s keynote speaker, Professor Emerita Dr. Carol Weissert, will start off the event by sharing her expertise on Florida politics with participants before they begin discussion. Dr. Weissert was the LeRoy Collins Eminent Scholar and Professor of Political Science at Florida State University from 2003-2021. She is a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) and was the Fulbright Distinguished Chair in American Political Science in Australia in 2016. She received the Daniel J. Elazar award for Distinguished Scholarship of the American Political Science Association and the Donald Stone Award for Distinguished Scholarship in Intergovernmental Relations of the American Society of Public Administration. She served as president of the Southern Political Science Association and on the executive council of the American Political Science Association. Her doctorate in political science is from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
