If you’re interested in pursuing a master’s degree and want to get ahead on graduate school while completing your bachelor’s degree, apply for a combined pathways program in the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy!

Combined pathways allow undergraduate students to get ahead by taking coursework that counts towards both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Up to 12 credit hours of graduate coursework may be shared with (or double-counted toward) both a bachelor’s and master’s, allowing students to earn two degrees for fewer total credit hours than would be required if the degree programs were completed separately.
Students from any major can apply to the following combined pathway programs:
- Applied American Politics & Policy
- Demography
- Geographic Information Science
- Public Administration
- Public Health
- Urban & Regional Planning
Admission requirements vary by program, but all six programs have GPA requirements. Some programs also require specific coursework in the subject area to be completed before admission. Applicants can review specific program requirements here.
All six programs accept applications for students to begin coursework in the fall and spring semesters, and some programs also allow students to begin in the summer. Applications to begin coursework in Fall 2025 are currently open, and will close on July 1, 2025.
