Research Spotlight: Ready for the Next Storm? An Analysis of Florida’s Hurricane Preparedness for its Residents with Disabilities

Anne Barrett, Ph.D., Professor of Sociology, Mildred and Claude Pepper Eminent Scholar, co-authored “Ready for the next storm? An analysis of Florida’s hurricane preparedness for its residents with disabilities,” alongside fellow FSU researchers: sociology doctoral candidate Hope Mimbs, sociology doctoral student Brianna Soulie, and postdoctoral scholar Jessica Noblitt. Department of Geography Hosts November 2025 Colloquium

FSU’s Geography Department hosted their monthly Colloquium last Friday, November 7, 2025.

The event, titled, “GeoAI and Human Mobility: Paving the Way for an Intelligent Geospatial Future” was an lecture based event hosted by Xiao Huang, Ph.D., an Assistant Professor from Emory University.

FSU Among Top Schools with Three Graduates in Prestigious ICMA Local Government Fellowship

Three recent graduates from Florida State University’s Askew School of Public Administration and Policy have been selected for the prestigious International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Local Government Management Fellowship, a highly competitive program that places emerging public service professionals in management-track positions with local governments across the United States.

FSU’s 2025 Fellows are Jessie Yuan (MPA ’25), placed with the City of Durham, North Carolina; Taniya Williams (MPA ’24), working with the City of Phoenix, Arizona; and Harrison Netburn (MPA ’24), serving in Pinellas County, Florida.
