FSU Partners with Second Harvest of the Big Bend to Advance Community Voice, Student Learning

Florida State University partnered with Second Harvest of the Big Bend to conduct the Leon County Neighbor Engagement Survey, a collaborative initiative that brought together community partnerships and student experiential learning to support a countywide effort to gather feedback from individuals accessing food assistance services throughout Leon County.

FSU’s Department of Urban & Regional Planning has received the 2026 American Planning Association (APA) Florida Project Award of Excellence for the Mark & Marianne Barnebey Planning & Development Lab’s student-run project, “Evaluating Critical Lands for Strategic Regional Conservation.”

Jacob Tagnan – a doctoral student who is pursuing a Ph.D. in Geography alongside a concurrent Master of Science in Data Science – was recently awarded a United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) Doctoral Scholarship for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Record 11 Florida State University students selected for Florida Gubernatorial Fellows Program

FSU students make up 11 of the 12 fellows in this year’s class. Four fellows are enrolled in FSU’s College of Social Sciences and Public Policy’s Master’s in Applied American Politics and Policy (MAAPP) program, one is in FSU’s College of Social Sciences and Public Policy’s Master of Public Administration program, and six are students in FSU’s College of Law.
