Student Spotlight: Jessie Yuan

Jessie Yuan – a graduate student pursuing Master of Public Administration (MPA) and Master of Social Work (MSW), was selected as a Knight Fellow with the City of Tallahassee Office of Economic Vitality in the Minority, Women, and Small Business Enterprise (MWBSE) Division. 

The MWSBE Academy Workshop Series is a program designed to support and empower members of the MWSBE, by providing them with valuable resources, training, and networking opportunities.

DMC Hosts Screening of UNDIVIDE US to Increase Civil Discourse 

The DeVoe L. Moore Center (DMC) at the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy is launching an initiative to increase civil discourse and decrease polarization across campus. The DMC is a public policy research institute, or “think tank,” involved in examining market-oriented solutions to pressing social problems. The initiative is led by the DMC’s Business Manager, Jalen Shojgreen, who joined the DMC last Fall.  

COSSPP Student Leader Rodney Wells Named Rhodes Scholar Finalist

Rodney Wells, a senior majoring in Interdisciplinary Social Science at FSU, who aspires to become a civil rights attorney, has earned the prestigious accomplishment of being named a Rhodes Scholar finalist.  He interviewed Nov. 16 in Birmingham, Alabama, for the world’s oldest and most celebrated international fellowship award after a rigorous, monthslong application process.    […]

Student Spotlight: Brianna Morales

Brianna Morales – a fourth-year sociology major minoring in psychology – received the FSU Student Seminole Award for her active involvement in the Florida State community. 

The award is given to eight to ten students who made major contributions to the university in the areas of leadership and service. Her achievements include serving as social advocacy chair of the Hispanic Latinx Student Union (HLSU) as well as founding FSU’s Argentinian Student Association (ARSA).

Kyle Rose, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology, was the lead author of “Political Influencers and Their Social Media Audiences during the 2021 Arizona Audit,” published in Socius: Sociological Research for a Dynamic World.
