“I am eager to share my experiences and insights with the FSU community,” Cosso said. “I’m hoping to inspire current students to pursue a career in data and simultaneously encourage other alumni to participate in the program.”

Since graduating, Cosso has applied her data skills to disaster response, helping communities recover from public health emergencies and natural disasters. She is currently a Data Analytics Manager at AC Disaster Consulting, where she leads a team of data analysts and engineers using tools like Python, R, and SQL to inform response in affected communities during emergencies.

Cosso graduated from Florida State with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a minor in Statistics in 2016. With the support of her professors in FSU’s College of Social Sciences and Public Policy, she then went on to pursue a Master of Public Health at Columbia University.

When asked what advice she would give to current FSU students, Cosso urged the importance of balancing coursework while pursuing internship experiences that allow students to apply the skills learned in the classroom.

“During my time at FSU, I was able to make meaningful connections with students and faculty,” Cosso said. “These connections inspired me to take on challenging coursework and broadened my horizons to pursue opportunities I would have otherwise thought impossible for me.”
