Florida State University’s College of Social Sciences and Public Policy (COSSPP) is pleased to announce the appointment of political science Professor Christopher Reenock, Ph.D., as associate dean.

As a COSSPP associate dean, Dr. Reenock will serve in several capacities, including leading the college’s data analytics efforts, developing strategies for endowment spending to ensure responsible stewardship of college resources, working with college student leadership groups, and serving as a member of the college’s leadership team. He will also serve as COSSPP’s associate dean for research (ADR), where he will work to expand the college’s research infrastructure and increase research funding.

“It is a joy to appoint Associate Dean Reenock to this leadership position in the college,” said COSSPP Dean Tim Chapin. “Dr. Reenock is an experienced, strategic, and engaged academic leader that will help advance initiatives in the areas of student programming, resource management, and research and creative activity. The college will be far better for his service in this role.”

Dr. Reenock earned his Ph.D. in political science from Pennsylvania State University in 2001 and joined Florida State University in 2003. Since then, he has contributed to the COSSPP community as a scholar and academic leader for more than 20 years. He is the newly named Granville Larimore Professor of Political Science and has served in numerous leadership and service roles within the Department of Political Science and across the university.

“It’s a privilege to step into this position for the college, a community that has meant a great deal to me for more than two decades,” said Dr. Reenock. “I’m looking forward to listening, learning, and building on the strong foundation already in place.”

Dr. Reenock’s research addresses critical challenges facing democratic institutions. He explores how institutional decisions and policies influence a democracy’s effectiveness and long-term stability. Dr. Reenock also focuses on how challenges, like delegation and cooperation dilemmas, impact public policies.
