William Pribula – a COSSPP master’s student studying Demography – received the 2023 Charles B. Nam Scholarship from the Center for Demography and Population Health (CDPH).

Pribula graduated from the University of Manitoba with a double major in Philosophy and Sociology. He was selected in recognition of his past successes and for the promise he shows in the fields of demography and population studies.
“I was elated when I found out I had received the Charles B. Nam Scholarship,” Pribula said. “When looking at graduate programs, attending Florida State for Demography was a dream of mine. Receiving this prestigious award has helped make this dream come true, and I am deeply grateful for the department’s generosity and support.”
This scholarship is named after Professor Emeritus and Founder of CDPH Charles B. Nam, Ph.D., established with the hope of supporting deserving students in their pursuit of this degree program.
The $5,000 award is given at the beginning of each fall semester to a student enrolled full-time in the Demography Master’s Program.
The Master of Science in Demography program is a one-year program designed to assist students in developing proficiency in demographic concepts, data, and techniques. Students also learn about real-world issues affecting populations such as migration, labor markets, and family structures.
