Brayden Harrell – a third-year student majoring in Political Science – was confirmed to the Board of Directors for the Florida State Office of Governmental Affairs in Fall 2022.

The Florida State Office of Governmental Affairs is a department within Florida State University’s Student Government Association (SGA), which provides students with representation within the university community and at all levels of government. In this position, Harrell helps the OGA decide its legislative agenda and develops strategies to provide students with the best representation.
“FSU has prepared me with political science and economic knowledge that I can take with me in my graduate studies and career,” Harrell said. “I want to explore all aspects of politics: campaigns, consulting, legislation, agency work, etc. FSU has given me the opportunity to pursue that dream.”
Harrell served as a Senator for the 74th Senate during Summer 2022 and is currently the President of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.
Outside of his extracurriculars at FSU, he has also worked on multiple campaigns across Florida. He was the Regional Representative in Florida District Five for Senator Marco Rubio, where he coordinated canvassing efforts, helped interview and hire staff, and helped curate social media campaigns. Harrell also served as the Campaign Manager for Vance Coley as he ran for State Representative during the 2022 Florida primary elections.
When asked what his most impactful experience at FSU was, he said, “Living and learning alongside some of the brightest scholars in the world. FSU is a diverse sea of education and opportunity, which has afforded me relationships, both social and professional.”
Harrell was accepted into the Department of Political Science’s Master’s in Applied American Politics and Policy program through the FSU Pathways Program and is currently taking both undergraduate and graduate courses.
After graduation, Harrell plans to apply for the Master’s of Applied American Politics and Policy program and work in Tallahassee as a lobbyist to help “meet the needs of all Floridians.”
