Florida State University’s DeVoe Moore Professor of Economics Randall Holcombe, Ph.D., was awarded the Distinguished Scholar Award from the Association of Private Enterprise Education (APEE) at the 48th annual APEE conference on April 8, 2024.
APEE is an association of teachers and scholars from universities, public policy institutes, and industry, all with the common goal of studying private enterprise. APEE hosts an annual conference for networking and to honor members.
The Distinguished Scholar Award is presented annually to an APEE member who has contributed to scholarship about free market economics. Awardees are those who have communicated effectively about the market economy and entrepreneurship, both with colleagues and the public.
“It’s great to see Dr. Holcombe receive this well-deserved honor,” said Tim Chapin, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy. “His scholarship has impacted students and faculty at Florida State for more than three decades, and I am thrilled to see him recognized for his contributions.”
Dr. Holcombe received his Ph.D. in economics from Virginia Tech and taught at Texas A&M University and Auburn University prior to coming to Florida State in 1988. His primary areas of research are public finance and the economic analysis of public policy issues.
Over his 50-year career, Dr. Holcombe has published 20 books about various topics in economics and contributed to countless other academic publications. His works have been featured in esteemed journals such as The American Economic Review, The Southern Academic Journal, The Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics, and more.
