Aurora Echavarria

Biography

Aurora Echavarria, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Florida State University. Her research centers on the intersection of comparative governance, urban public finance, and the political economy of land and property. Her current work explores how governance factors, such as institutional trust, expected benefits, and administrative fairness shape public perceptions of local property tax policy. In a parallel line of research, Dr. Echavarria studies fair housing policy to analyze inequalities in public spending across neighborhoods. Prior to joining FSU, Dr. Echavarria was a Fulbright fellow and a visiting researcher at the Colegio de México in Mexico City.
