The Department of Economics in the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy at Florida State University presents the 12th annual Southeastern Health Economics Study Group Conference, October 24-25, 2014, at the university’s Turnbull Conference Center.
The purpose of this invitational conference is to present and promote active exchange and discussion of the latest health economics research among senior and junior economists. Ten new working papers that are not yet published will be presented and discussed by the 40 academic economists attending the conference.
The program includes a diverse set of papers on obesity, quality assessment in Medicare Advantage and the nursing home industry, sex education programs, medical marijuana, medical technology abandonment, and early detection programs for breast and cervical cancer. These topics mirror the current interests among economists in the field.
Organizer Gary Fournier of the FSU economics faculty said, “It is a great opportunity for us to host this conference. There is growing network of health economics research in the top universities in the South, and we are honored to contribute. We are helping to build regional collaborations among scholars that complements the traditional national and international health economics conferences.”
