Financial Support

The graduate admissions committee reviews all applications for admission and determines eligibility for fellowships or scholarships—no separate application is required. Applications submitted after February 1 are considered for financial support on a funds-available basis. For details on tuition, living expenses, and available financial aid, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.

Kaul Fellowships and Scholarships

With great thanks to the generous donations from the Ralph Kaul Foundation, the department is able to offer Kaul Fellowships and Kaul Scholarships.

Kaul Fellows: Kaul Fellows receive tuition waivers, are appointed as graduate assistants in teaching, and receive a stipend for 10 hours of work per week. Kaul Fellows often have 3.9 Upper Division GPAs and demonstrate strong leadership and teamwork skills. The total funding associated with an in-state Kaul Fellowship is over $29,000.

Kaul Scholars: Kaul Scholars do not receive a tuition waiver but do receive scholarship funding. The median Kaul Scholar has a 3.8 Upper Division GPA and demonstrates strong leadership and teamwork skills. Kaul Scholars receive scholarships up to $15,000.

International Students

Application fees cannot be waived. The Master’s in Applied Economics is a STEAM Program. The department awards up to three $1,500 Latin America-Caribbean Scholarships per year.
