We encourage all applicants to submit their complete application before January 1st to ensure you are considered for funding.

All applicants who submit their application before the January 1 deadline are automatically considered for funding. There is no separate application.

All applicants will be considered for funding when they apply. Students originally from one of several Latin American or Caribbean nations are also eligible for the Latin American and Caribbean Scholarship.

Yes! The university now requires an English Translation of international transcripts. The current preferred company is SpanTran. However, the university will accept any NACES approved translation. Complete applications for International Students must be complete by January 15th to ensure there are no delays in processing, I-20 paperwork, and isa appointments. Many countries have long visa scheduling delays currently.

Recently the State of Florida introduced a secondary review process for state employees who were domiciled in one of the listed nations and deemed “Foreign Principles”

“Foreign principal” in this context means: Any person who is domiciled (physically present with an intent to return) in a foreign country of concern and is not a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States. A member of a political party in a foreign country of concern; A government official of a foreign country of concern.

The secondary review can lead to delays in the issuance of an I-20. This will affect students with funded offers, as funding requires state employment.

No. The university refuses to waive the application fee under any circumstances. 

All international students must provide language proficiency scores. Currently, the graduate college accepts scores from several testing agencies. For a complete listing, please click here. However, the TOEFL is the only exam that also can be used to prove Spoken English requirements for TA/RA positions.

No. The GMAT is not considered an acceptable substitute.

This does happen on rare occasions, but the limiting factor is availability of funds (very hard to predict).

No. The university requires official transcripts when you apply. Receiving official transcripts and translations is critical

Yes. While many universities have made the GRE optional following COVID-19, the FSU Department of Economics still requires the submission of the GRE as a part of your application packet.

No. Students do not need a sponsor in the department to apply.
