The Florida Center for Public Management (FCPM) at Florida State University celebrated a major step in expanding its collaborative learning environments with the opening of its new Certified Public Manager (CPM) Training Room, honoring the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 26, 2026.
Designed specifically for the CPM program, the new training room features a flexible layout that supports a range of collaborative and instructional activities, from small ‑group discussions to presentations and other collaborative exercises. Its newly enhanced technology and presentation tools help participants to more effectively engage with leadership exercises, case studies, and coursework.
“The CPM program has always been about preparing leaders to navigate complexity, lead people, and serve the public with excellence,” said Linda Jiménez, Director of the Florida Center for Public Management.
FCPM alumni recounted how the program strengthened their leadership abilities, deepened relationships with colleagues, and helped them adapt to changes within their organizations. Guests also toured the new training room and met with faculty and staff as they reflected on the program’s influence throughout their careers.
The ribbon cutting was made possible through the collaborative efforts of FCPM staff, university partners, and CPM program advocates who value continued investment in leadership development. The project aims to create a space that encourages open discussion, instruction, learning, and community growth.
“This training room represents more than a physical upgrade; it symbolizes our commitment to creating a professional learning environment that matches the importance of the work our participants do every day in their agencies and communities,” Jiménez said.
