Florida State University’s Department of Political Science hosted the 2024 Political Networks Conference from June 5 through June 8, 2024.
As the official conference of the Political Networks Section of the American Political Science Association, it attracted a wide array of political scientist faculty and doctoral students from across the country and abroad.
“For a long time, FSU’s Political Science Department has taken a leadership role in the study of political networks,” said Political Science Department Chair Brad Gomez, Ph.D. “It is an honor to host this conference and to bring leading scholars in the field to FSU’s campus.”
The conference included presentations about cutting-edge research in the field of political behavior. Attendees received feedback on their scholarship and collaborated with colleagues.
The first two days were dedicated to workshops that delved into cutting-edge developments within the field. Workshop instructors Skyler Cranmer, Ph.D., Bomi Lee, Ph.D., Philip Leifeld, Ph.D., Shahryar Minhas, Ph.D., Sarah Shugars, Ph.D., and Katya Ognyanova, Ph.D., provided demonstrations and presentations on topics ranging from relational event models to discourse network analysis.
On Friday and Saturday, attendees presented their research, participating in poster sessions or themed panels that focused on designated research topics. Both formats not only allowed presenters and panelists to share their research but also encouraged other participants to engage actively with their work. These vibrant discussions not only enriched the conference but also set the course for future research inquiries.
