Biography
After 32 years of public service, I retired from the State of Florida in January 2022. For 25 years, I served as the Bureau Chief/Administrator of the Department of Environmental Protection’s Mining and Mitigation Program, a statewide program that regulates mine dredge and fill and reclamation activities occurring in the State of Florida. I was responsible for the implementation of rules, laws, policies, and compliance of land alteration projects resulting from mining, reclamation, mitigation, and similar development activities that are subject to environmental regulation in the State of Florida. I’m a Professional Wetland Scientist (Society of Wetlands Scientists), a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (Society for Ecological Restoration), and a Certified Wildlife Biologist (The Wildlife Society). I would like to research the Environmental and Political Implications of the concept of preservation, reclamation and connectivity while allowing the economic and efficient extraction of mineral resources. I’m currently a Safety Training Specialist (Bilingual) with the US Department of Labor-Mine Health and Safety Administration (MSHA).
