Application Checklist

  1. A completed online University Application
  2. Official GRE general test scores: The GRE is waived through Fall 2026 for Master’s Programs. PhD in Geography requires GRE scores or GRE Waiver.
  3. Resume-Curriculum Vitae
  4. Writing Sample (Geography Masters and PhD Only)
  5. Statement of Purpose
  6. Transcripts
  7. Three letters of recommendation
  8. English Language Proficiency

*International applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their applications earlier due to the extended time for visa processing

Masters in GIScience

Fall 2026 – Admissions will open August 1. International applicants are highly encourage to apply by May 1st to ensure sufficient time for visa processing. We will begin reviewing applications on rolling basis beginning early May. The final Deadline to apply is July 1.  

Spring 2026 – Admissions are now open. Deadline to apply is October 1.

Master’s & PhD in Geography

Fall 2025 – Opens 1 August 2024. For priority consideration submit your application by 19 January 2025.  Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until1 March 2025.

Deadline to Submit a GRE Waiver

Fall 2025: December 11 – for students applying before the January 19 priority deadline.
February 12 – for students applying before the March 1 deadline. 

Spring 2026: September 8
