Step 1: Apply to FSU and Be Admitted
The Office of Admissions makes all final admission decisions.
When they do so, you will receive an email from the Office of Admission notifying you that your Online Status Check has been updated. This may take up to a few weeks for you to receive an official notification.
Only after you are formally admitted by the Office of Admission (not just accepted by a graduate department) can you proceed to apply for your I-20.
Step 2: Obtain your Form I-20
I-20 Application
The Center for Global Engagement is your main contact for all I-20 and VISA questions.
Shortly after admission, students will receive an email with instructions for completing the online I-20 application to demonstrate proof of adequate funding. Florida State University is required by U.S. federal regulations to verify the financial resources of each applicant prior to issuing the Form I-20. Applicants must show proof of financial support for the first year of study and confirm the availability of funds for the length of the academic program.

Cost of Attendance
The cost of attendance is dependent on the tuition and fees determined by the University. International Students who do not gain Florida residency are classified as “Out-of-State” and will be subject to all Out-of-State tuition and fees.

Scholarships
The Latin American and Caribbean Scholarship (LACS) is a scholarship that offers in-state tuition to citizens from Latin America, the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands. For more information, click here.
Assistantships
The program director awards a small number of assistantships on the basis of the student’s academic record and GRE scores. All applicants are reviewed for funding and there is no additional application.
Assistantships are typically awarded upon admittance into the program, or occasionally after the first semester based on high performance. The program sometimes has a small donor-funded grant or scholarship given in recognition of student performance.

Prior to matriculation, all international students are expected to submit a Certification of Financial Responsibility form to CGE.
