Join us for the inaugural Mark and Marianne Barnebey Leadership Lecture Series talk by Jorge Gonzalez on Friday, February 28, at 2 p.m. in the Starry Conference Room (RBB 214), followed by a reception at 3 p.m.

The company has developed over a dozen master-planned residential communities in addition to developing, owning, and operating a broad portfolio of real estate assets, including apartments, commercial shopping centers, office and industrial parks, hotels, restaurants, golf courses, marinas, beach clubs, and a private resort membership club.
Gonzalez serves on FSU’s Board of Trustees and holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy (COSSPP) at Florida State University, including a B.S. Political Science ’87 and M.S. Urban & Regional Planning ’89.

Florida Trend has named Jorge as one of Florida’s Most Influential Business Leaders. Jorge and the company are strong believers in supporting education and in 2019, the company vacated its corporate headquarters to allow for the establishment of the Magnet Innovation Center, the first Science Technology and Engineering (STEAM) public high school in Walton County, which was awarded the 2020 Florida Commissioner of Education’s Business Recognition Award for a commitment to bringing positive change and implementing bold and innovative approaches to improve the academic performance of students in Florida.
The Barnebey Leadership Lecture Series brings alumni, friends, and national leaders to speak about the critical role that leadership plays in their lives and careers.
The Barnebeys are dedicated supporters of the college and Florida State University, where Mark Barnebey earned three degrees (B.S. Finance ’78, M.S. Urban and Regional Planning ’83, J.D. ’83).
Mark Barnebey, a board-certified expert in City, County, and Local Government Law, has spent 40 years excelling in land use and local government law. A Principal at Blalock Walters, P.A. in Bradenton, Florida, he was recognized as a 2023 COSSPP Distinguished Alumni.
Marianne Barnebey has built a distinguished career in public service and currently serves as the Councilwoman for Ward Two in Bradenton.
