Join us for the upcoming Mark and Marianne Barnebey Leadership Lecture Series talk with Jean Accius, Ph.D. on Friday, November 14, at 2 p.m. in the Starry Conference Room (RBB 214), followed by a reception at 3 p.m.
The talk, “Forged by Fire, Strengthened by Purpose: Why Collaboration Is the New Currency,” with Dr. Accius, will provide students and community members with insights from his accomplished career.
Leadership is not measured by titles or authority but by how we rise, rebuild, and bring others with us when the world shifts beneath our feet. In this Barnebey Leadership Lecture, Dr. Accius, Florida State University alumnus, global change-maker, and champion for stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities, invites the next generation to rethink leadership in a time of challenge and possibility.
Dr. Accius is the President & CEO of CHC: Creating Healthier Communities, a high-performing organization partnering with 650+ businesses and 5,000 nonprofits, reaching over 17 million employees and families. Under his leadership, CHC has achieved national and global recognition, including The Silicon Review® “50 Best Companies to Watch” and Real Leaders Top Impact Company, joining iconic brands like Patagonia and Johnson & Johnson.
Drawing from humble beginnings to advising CEOs, shaping national social impact strategies, and building teams that move mountains, he reminds us that leadership is not a climb to the top but a return to our values. It’s about standing firm, uniting in purpose, and building together so our collective strength endures any storm.
Inspired by the unconquered spirit of the Seminole Nation, Dr. Accius calls on students and the Tallahassee community to embrace leadership grounded in authenticity, collaboration, and courage which is a leadership bold enough to create a future worthy of our legacy.
The Barnebey Leadership Lecture Series brings alumni, friends, and national leaders to speak about the critical role that leadership plays in their lives and careers.
