Dr. Lee specializes in health policy, performance management, and health finance; he has taught master’s and doctoral courses in Public Administration and Public Health at FSU since 2007.

“I am very pleased that Dr. Keon Lee has agreed to return to the Director position at the Askew School of Public Administration and Policy,” said Tim Chapin, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy. “I am excited to see Dr. Lee step into this role as I know he shares the unit’s commitment to excellence, engaged faculty governance, and strategic investment in the unit.”

Dr. Lee assumes the position from Reubin O’D. Askew Senior Practitioner in Residence Gary VanLandingham, Ph.D., who served as Director since 2022.

“Dr. VanLandingham was always an excellent advocate for the School’s faculty, staff and students, and worked to understand and respond to broader university considerations during his time as Director,” said Dean Tim Chapin. “I wish Gary  the very best in his return to the faculty, and I look forward to working with him to advance the interests of the Askew School through his applied research in the Tallahassee region and across the State of Florida.”

During his time as Director, VanLandingham worked to strengthen relationships with alumni and partnerships with local governments and community organizations in the Leon County area, as well as to enhance the Schools’ national reputation. Under his leadership, the Askew School built a faculty consensus toward key strategic goals for the coming years.

“It was wonderful to see so many of our master’s and doctoral students graduate each year and either begin their professional careers or become prepared to assume leadership positions in the public, nonprofit, and private organizations they already work in,” Dr. VanLandingham said. “It was also very satisfying to see our great faculty recognized for their outstanding research by ShanghaiRanking’s announcement that the Askew School is rated 6th globally and 2nd nationwide for its exceptionally high publication productivity in our field’s leading academic journals.”
