Master’s in Applied Economics Program hosts Spring 2023 Career Day

Current and prospective Master’s in Applied Economics Program (MAEP) students got a chance to sit down with employers and explore different career opportunities at the program’s biannual Career Day on March 24.

The event brings professionals and recent alumni to campus for a day full of activities with the current cohort of students, including a networking lunch, mock interviews, a panel discussion, and a reception.

During the panel, students heard from Ian Fitton, a senior manager with Mather Economics, Sheridan Meek, a research economist with the Florida Chamber of Commerce, and Lindsey Raudebaugh, a consultant with Revenue Management Solutions.

This semester, thirteen employers sat down and conducted 30-minute mock interviews with students. The mock interviews prepare students for the job market, provide an important networking opportunity, and are used as a recruiting tool by the interviewing organizations.

Other companies that attended the event were Charles Rivers Associates and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

This one-year, 30-credit-hour program prepares students for a variety of careers in government and the private sector.

Graduates often begin their careers as analysts, junior data scientists, or research associates.

Students work closely with faculty, alumni, and civic leaders to learn how economic theory is applied to data and consulting projects in the labor force and gain exposure to in-demand software and learn data analysis skills.
