Funding opportunities in the Department of Geography are nationally competitive and enrolled students have access to excellent research facilities and interaction potential with scholars from Geography and a number of Ph.D. granting departments including Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, Communications, Medicine, Sociology, Social Work, Criminology, Political Science and Economics. Over the last several years, we have been able to provide research funding to graduate students from organizations such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Florida Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Once in the graduate program at FSU Geography, students under my supervision receive mentorship, are able to join our regular group meetings, work on potential research opportunities, and participate in our occasional social activities. Our goal is to maintain an atmosphere and climate for students’ academic success, research excellence, and (interdisciplinary) collaboration.
