  • What our students say

I loved living in this LLC this semester! It really helped me get involved around campus and meet new people!

One of the main things I love about the LLC is that it exposes me to career opportunities in my field that I wouldn’t have known about otherwise!

Are you an incoming first-year student interested in the social sciences and looking to live on campus? The Global and Public Affairs Living-Learning Community (GPALC) is a program offered through University Housing that gives first-year students the unique opportunity to live alongside peers with similar interests.

Get in Touch

Living-Learning Communities, offered through University Housing, are a way to help first-year students develop a deeper connection to campus and their peers. Students all live in the same residence hall and take classes together. Through their LLC experience, students are able to engage with like-minded students and deepen their knowledge of their interests.

Living-Learning Community residents benefit from the resources of a large university (world-renowned faculty, a variety of course offerings in more than one hundred departments and other academic programs, academic and cultural activities almost every night, and a large and diverse student body), while also enjoying the benefits of a small college (close contact with a small community of students, small class sizes, and regular interaction with university faculty and staff).

What’s it Like at GPALC?

Camila Fraser Fajardo goes through a typical day in a student’s life at the FSU Global and Public Affairs Living Learning Community (GPALC).

More experiences from our students

    • “Being in the LLC has allowed me to meet so many amazing, fun, intelligent, and involved people who I have had the pleasure of living in the same hall with this past year. I loved hearing from Professor Coleman and all the guest speakers and learned so much from them all. Something I did this year was intern in the congressional office of Senator Rick Scott, which has been amazing. I started in January and my duties consist of answering messages from constituents, doing various constituent services, organizing campaigns, helping around the office, answering calls from constituents, and more.”

    • “Joining the GPALC was certainly the best decision I made coming into this school. I would say that the two biggest takeaways I got from the LLC were getting exposed to all of the different opportunities on campus and also getting to meet some great people. This semester I joined the Florida State Political Review, which is a non-partisan online newspaper that I probably would not have heard about if it were not for my suite-mate. I also applied for a Community Ambassadors position…”

    • “During my time in the LLC I’ve been apart of the women’s leadership network, FSU PIRG, and Global Scholars. As apart of global scholars, I’ve interviewed for an internship at orange county’s environmental protection division and will hopefully will be doing that going into the summer.”
