Charles Barrilleaux

Biography

Professor Charles Barrilleaux taught at FSU from 1989 to 2023.

Professor Barrilleaux was the LeRoy Collins Professor of Political Science. His research and teaching focus on public policy, health policy and politics, as well as state and local politics. He is the coauthor of Democratic Policymaking (Cambridge University Press) and has authored research articles in the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, and numerous other scholarly journals and volumes. In 2022, the American Political Science Association’s State Politics and Policy Section awarded Professor Barrilleaux its Career Achievement Award.

Professor Barrilleaux served as chair of the department from 2014-2020. He was President of the State Politics and Policy Section of the American Political Science Association from 2015-2017. He received is Ph.D. from State University of New York at Binghamton.
