Holger Kern

Biography

Holger L. Kern, Ph.D., earned his doctorate in Government from Cornell University in 2008. Dr. Kern is an associate professor of political science at Florida State University and held the positions of postdoctoral fellow at Yale University from 2008-2011 and Assistant Professor of political science at the University of South Carolina from 2011-2013. Kern’s main research areas are comparative politics and quantitative methodology. Substantively, he studies the politics of authoritarian regimes with a focus on transitions to and from democracy, populism, mass media, public opinion, and information control. Methodologically, Kern is interested in causal inference in randomized experiments and observational studies.
