Departments within the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy offer various types of financial assistance to students. To find out more, please contact the department you want to apply to.
Undergraduate Students
Social Science Scholars is a competitive program for outstanding majors in the college. The selected students participate in a leadership seminar during the spring semester of their junior year preparing for research or service projects to be undertaken during the following summer and/or fall semesters. Social Science Scholars receive grants of up to $5,000 for approved travel and other expenses related to their projects, either in the U.S. or overseas. For more information, visit the program’s page here.
Graduate Students
Military veterans who are master’s degree students in the college can receive assistance through the Charles T. Haworth Graduate Scholarships for Student Veterans: four scholarships at $5,000 each ($2,500 each semester for one academic year).
Veterans in graduate study are also eligible for the Thomas M. and Eileen R. Culligan Award for Student Veterans: one scholarship at $4,000 ($2,000 each semester for one academic year).
Students must be engaged in full-time study for a degree in the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy. Note that there are no tuition waivers attached to these awards at this time, and there is no work requirement attached to the award. For information about eligibility, deadlines and applications for the veteran awards, please contact Tonja Guilford at tguilford@fsu.edu.
