Biography
Dr. Helen Mahony earned her PhD in Public Health from the University of South Florida in 2019. Dr. Mahony’s subject matter expertise is broadly in Maternal and Child Health with a focus on 1) sexual and reproductive health, and 2) prenatal care and birth outcomes. Her methodological expertise is in epidemiology and biostatistics. Much of her recent research has been at the intersection of public health and medicine examining the implementation of population-based clinical guidelines into practice.
Dr. Mahony has taught courses in women’s health, sexual and reproductive health, health behavior theory, and biostatistics. She also has mentored undergraduate and graduate students on topics such as epidemiological methods, data management and analysis approaches including the use of data analysis software, systematic review methodology, and dissemination of research findings.
Prior to joining the faculty at FSU, Dr. Mahony completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health at the University of South Florida College of Public Health.
