Sociology Programs at a glance.

The Department of Sociology at FSU is home to over 20 dedicated faculty members who explore a wide range of topics—from population trends, health, and aging to family dynamics, education, the workplace, and positive social change. Our respected undergraduate and graduate programs are recognized for excellence both nationally and across the South.

Master’s in Data and Society

The one-year M.S. in Data and Society combines quantitative and qualitative research methods with computational and geospatial tools to prepare students for careers in research, policy, government, nonprofits, and the private sector.

Ph.D. Program

The Sociology Ph.D. program provides advanced training in research methods, teaching, and collaborative scholarship across concentrations in demography, health and aging, and social stratification.

Undergraduate Program

The undergraduate sociology program explores social organization, inequality, population studies, personality and society, and family dynamics while offering opportunities for independent research and honors study.
