Biography
Kathryn Tillman, Ph.D., earned her doctorate in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003. Dr. Tillman studies the social and health-related outcomes of adolescents and young adults, with a particular focus on the adaptation of immigrant youth and the influence of family and interpersonal relationships on individual development, health and risk-taking behaviors, and overall well-being. Current research includes examinations of the influence of family structure and relationships upon sexual behavior and romantic relationship formation during the transition to adulthood, the association between youth sexual behavior and psychological and reproductive health outcomes, and the social and psychological well-being differences between youth dating same-race and different-race partners.
