Sourabh Singh

Biography

Sourabh Singh, Ph.D., earned his doctorate in Sociology from Rutgers University in 2014.

My primary research interest is in studying the changing relation between objective social structures and subjective point of view. I have developed new insights on how the two reproduce and transform each other by studying the history of changing political structure and political elite’s subjectivity in India during the 1919-1984 period. In my research, I use both qualitative and quantitative research methods such as Textual, Multiple Correspondence, Social Network and Regression Analysis. I am currently engaged with meta-theoretical debates on the ontological assumptions and epistemological strategies for conducting sociological analysis. In my forthcoming work on state, politics and social movements in India, I aim to empirically demonstrate the relevance of engaging with these debates in order to develop a deeper and more precise comprehension of the relation between political actors’ subjective point of view and structural conditions of their world.
