Brianna Soulie

Biography

Brianna Soulie is a PhD student at Florida State University. Her specializations include aging, embodiment, gender, and sexuality. Her current work aims to investigate how gendered and internalized ageism impact the lives of women and influence their behaviors. More specifically, through in-depth interviews, her research focuses on uncovering collective responses to gendered ageism by examining the meanings and intent behind older women’s engagement with beauty work and other age-masking behaviors. This research also places a sizeable focus on exploring older women’s experiences during the transition from a hypersexualized state, during youth, to a desexualized state, as one enters older adulthood.
