Many of our graduates secure jobs as professors at either research-oriented universities (e.g., University of Central Florida, University of Kentucky, University of Arkansas) or teaching-oriented and liberal arts colleges (e.g., Radford University, Coastal Carolina University, University of Tampa). Some graduates successfully land research jobs with nonprofits and government agencies (e.g., the U.S. Census Bureau, the Center for Disease Control, The Department of Health). Others leverage their skills and experience to secure university administrative (e.g., Associate Director of Center of Academic Access and Opportunity) or research positions (e.g., Diversity & Inclusion Metrics Analyst). And a few translate their training into political work (e.g., member of a city council, women’s health advocacy) or nonprofit management (e.g, coordinator of an educational sustainable farm). Although our program emphasizes research and teaching, we support students pursuing diverse career paths and provide advice on preparing for the job market, feedback on application materials, and opportunities to practice job talks.
