This award is given to one undergraduate sociology major or minor student who can best express how sociological thinking has impacted their own worldview, ideas, or other areas of their life, with specific attention to gender and the economic system. Students should submit a 1-2-page single spaced narrative that addresses how sociology has shaped their college experience, including how their studies have impacted their point of view and/or plans for the future. Submissions should make specific reference to the intersection of work, gender, and the social world. Submissions should be emailed to Dr. Teresa Roach (troach@fsu.edu) no later than Friday April 5, 2024. Please put Irene Padavic Award for Sociological Imagination in the subject line. The award winner will receive a monetary prize and a certificate of recognition at the Spring awards ceremony.
