Ezzat Tanzila Evana – a second-year Master of Public Administration (MPA) student – recently completed an internship with the City of Tallahassee’s Grant Management Department.
Evana, originally from Bangladesh, holds a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. In addition, she has over five years of professional experience in public policy and is currently pursuing a certificate in Public Financial Management.
“My time at FSU has been a deeply enriching journey of learning, growth, and discovery. In the classroom, I have learned immensely from my professors, whose guidance has challenged me to think critically and connect theory with practice. Beyond the classroom, opportunities such as conferences and professional engagements have broadened my perspective and strengthened my confidence as a scholar and practitioner,” Evana said. “Equally meaningful has been learning alongside a diverse student body, where each conversation brought new insights, experiences, and ways of understanding public service. Altogether, FSU has given me an environment that has shaped both my academic path and my personal growth.”
Evana has previously worked as a Policy Analyst and Research Manager at BRAC, a leading international organization. Recently, she completed an internship with the City of Tallahassee’s Grant Management Department, which provided hands-on exposure to local government operations and public-sector grant systems.
“The experience complemented my public financial management coursework and strengthened my preparation for doctoral study by grounding my interests in real administrative processes,” Evana said.
She is currently working as a Graduate Research Assistant under the supervision of Tian Tang, Ph.D., and Ene Ikpebe, Ph.D. This month, she has presented her ongoing research paper with Dr. Ikpebe at the American Society of Public Administration (ASPA) in Hollywood, California. She also worked as an Outreach Officer for the Public Administration Graduate Association (PAGA).
After graduating this summer, Evana plans to continue her path of education by pursuing a doctoral degree in Public Administration at Florida State University.
