In May 2023, Hitchcock began his leadership role as Chairman of the Florida Student Association (FSA), through which he amplified the voices of more than 400,000 students across the state. FSA, a non-profit organization that brings together Student Body Presidents from each university under the State University System of Florida, serves as the largest student advocacy and lobbying group in the United States. Hitchcock’s position also gives him a seat and a vote on the Board of Governors.

“Serving as FSU Student Body President, Chairman of the Florida Student Association, and on Florida’s Board of Governors, has allowed me to make decisions that directly impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of students, advocating for their needs and driving positive change,” Hitchcock said. “These experiences have shaped my understanding of advocacy and leadership and my career trajectory toward a path where I can continue to fight for what is right.”

All of Hitchcock’s involvements have helped him develop his communication, leadership, and management skills.

“Serving as the sole student member of the Board of Governors is extremely rewarding and sometimes complicated,” Hitchcock said. “During Board meetings, you can be discussing the approval of $100 million in funding and then five minutes later be talking about online students and AI programs.”

Hitchcock has been involved with many different clubs since his enrollment in 2020. He served as a Student Senator, Secretary of External Affairs, Cabinet Director for SGA, and Chair of the Student Foundation. He is currently a proud member of the Delta Lambda Chapter of Beta Theta Pi, Garnet and Gold Key Leadership Honorary, and Order of Omega Honorary.

Hitchcock chose to attend FSU because of the fun atmosphere, prestigious academics, and the Bright Futures program.

“I have loved every moment being in the Interdisciplinary Social Science program. I have met some of the greatest friends and even better professors. In the program, I have gotten to meld my interests to ensure that I create my degree path,” Hitchcock said. “With International Affairs, I’ve had the opportunity to dive deeply into foreign relations and how that impacts the average person, something I have been interested in since I was younger. With both of my majors, I feel like I have control of what I am learning, which classes I take, and where my degree will lead me.”

After graduation, Hitchcock plans to work in politics and government for a year and then apply to law school.
