Liz Arnold – a third-year student majoring in Political Science with a minor in Communications – was selected as one of 50 students from more than 650 applicants for the Florida State University College of Law Summer for Undergraduates Program, an ABA award-winning pre-law program modeled after the first-year law school experience.
The Summer for Undergraduates Program provides students with an immersive introduction to legal education and careers in law. As a scholar in the program, Arnold completed law-focused coursework, conducted oral arguments, and observed proceedings at the Florida Supreme Court. In addition to participating in the program, Arnold was recognized as one of the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy’s most accomplished students in Spring 2026 and earned both President’s List and Dean’s List honors.
“Being selected for the FSU College of Law Summer for Undergraduates Program was the most transformative experience of my time at FSU,” Arnold said. “This program solidified my passion for law and gave me the confidence to pursue it seriously.”
In addition to her academic accomplishments, Arnold serves as an Office Assistant Intern at the FSU College of Law and is actively involved in several organizations across campus, including Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society, Women in Pre-Law Society, Forward FSU, and Seminoles Engaged in Politics. Arnold is also the co-founder of Thrift Chicks, a student-run resale business that has allowed her to further develop her leadership and entrepreneurial skills. Through Seminoles Engaged in Politics, she has lobbied Florida House representatives and senators and participated in policy discussions with state leaders, including the Florida Senate Majority Leader.
When asked how Florida State University has prepared her for future goals, Arnold said, “FSU has given me access to opportunities I would not have had anywhere else, from lobbying state legislators at the Capitol to working inside a law school to being selected for a prestigious pre-law program. FSU has taught me that showing up, being prepared, and putting yourself out there opens doors, and that is a lesson I will carry with me into law school and beyond.”
After graduation, Arnold plans to attend law school and pursue a career in public service through legal work. She hopes to use the law as a tool to help people, strengthen communities, and create meaningful change. As a first-generation college and pre-law student, Arnold hopes her experiences will encourage other students from similar backgrounds to pursue opportunities they may not have previously considered.
