Student Spotlight: Natalie Gonzalez

Natalie Gonzalez – second-year student majoring in Political Science – was hired as a Legal Intern for Zumpano Patricios, P.A. Law Firm in Miami, Florida, for the duration of this summer.

Zumpano Patricios, headquartered in Miami, Florida, is a law firm that specializes in 13 areas of practice, including international and employment law. Every summer and winter, the firm invites a select number of students to its internship program. If selected, the students are assigned to attorneys who guide their development through assignments and tasks that provide insight into life as a professional at the law firm.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to be working hands-on with a law firm as an undergraduate student, as many firms throughout the nation do not hire students who are not actively in law school,” Gonzalez said. “I have already learned so much in so little time about the importance of the legal field and courtroom procedures that has inspired me to pursue a career as a lawyer in the future.”

Gonzalez is heavily involved on campus with multiple organizations in and outside of the college. She is a member of OGA’s Noles Engaged in Politics 23-24 Cohort, COSSPP Women’s Leadership Network, the Diversity & Inclusion Institute and Women in Government Club. She also prioritizes giving back to her community with her position as an EngageTLH Facilitator, leading and attending one service trip or project each week for the semester.

When asked what her most impactful experience has been at FSU so far, she reflected on her time in the Office of Governmental Affairs (OGA)’s Noles Engaged in Politics program, “Throughout my first year at Florida State, I had the opportunity to visit the Florida capital, legislative chambers, supreme court, and meet with many important people involved in politics in Florida.”

After graduating in Spring 2027, Gonzalez plans to attend law school and be “highly educated on politics and international affairs.”
