The DeVoe L. Moore Center held its Spring 2023 Colloquium on Friday, April 7th. It served as an opportunity for researchers to present their posters to their DMC peers and receive feedback on their work.
Students and faculty were able to attend and engage in academic conversations with each poster’s respective researcher.
The colloquium featured 9 total posters:
- “Occupational Licensing’s Effect on Prison Recidivism” by Juanchi Roca-Paisley
- “Assessing Public Participation in Redevelopment Projects: A Case Study of Tallahassee, Florida” by Camila Aponte
- “Where Do Floridians Fall on the Gender Wage Gap?” by Madison Green
- “How Has the Pandemic Affected Tampa’s Housing Market?” by Alexis Whitley
- “Privatization of the Aerospace Sector and its Economic Impact on Florida” by Sarah Kwara
- “Height Restrictions on Student Housing: A Case Study of Tallahassee, Florida” by Chloe Kauffman
- “A Case Study of “Just Compensation” in Tallahassee, Florida” by Chloe Wain
- “Historical Case Comparison of Infrastructure Projects in Tallahassee, Florida” by Arthi Solayappan
- “Water Quality and Economic Development: A Review of Time Series Methodologies” by Ashira Casanova
Among the researchers with posters at the colloquium, Juanchi Roca-Paisley, Madison Green, and Sarah Kwara were selected to moving on to the prestigious Association of Private Enterprise Education Meeting (APEE) from April 16th to April 18th.
At Friday’s event, the three selected researchers got the opportunity to present their posters to a room full of fellow scholars under a set time limit, followed by questions regarding their research and implications.
The test run presentations not only gave the presenters the opportunity to prepare for APEE but also allowed other researchers to see what APEE-ready work looks like.
Overall, the DeVoe L. Moore Center Spring 2023 Colloquium was a major success and gave researchers the time to shine and network amongst their peers.
