Ria Kapadia – alumna (B.S. International Affairs ’25) – was accepted into the Master’s in International Relations degree program at IE University in Madrid, Spain, beginning in fall 2026.
In addition to her acceptance, Kapadia was awarded a €5000 (nearly $6,000) merit-based scholarship from the university.
Janet Hartman – an FSU alumna (B.S. Interdisciplinary Social Science ’21, M.S. Criminology ’23) – was appointed executive director of the Florida Public Safety Institute (FPSI) at Tallahassee State College.
Hartman is committed to advancing training, development, and innovation in the field of public safety including law enforcement, corrections, firefighting, and emergency management.
Charles Parkins – an FSU graduate (B.S. Sociology ‘10) – was recently appointed as the division director of juvenile services for the King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention (DAJD) in Seattle.
Woody Harvey – an FSU alumnus (B.S. Interdisciplinary Social Science ’18) – was named contract manager for Florida’s Statewide Emergency Mass Notification Contract.
Katherine Reid – a three-time COSSPP alumna (B.S. International Affairs ‘18; M.A. International Affairs ‘19; Ph.D. Public Administration and Policy ‘25) – guest lectured at the University of Sussex about incel violence for two of their graduate-level terrorism courses.
Adrian L. Del Valle — an FSU alumnus (B.S. International Affairs ’20) — was recently named one of Latino Leaders Magazine’s 2024 “Latino Lawyers to Keep on the Watch,” an honor recognizing Latino lawyers with exceptional records of achievement, top-tier client representation, and deep community engagement.
Emma Barrett – an FSU alumna (B.S. Political Science ’25; B.S. International Affairs ’25) – began her Ph.D. in Political Science at Harvard University’s Department of Government this Fall, studying American Politics.
Chloe Ann Wain – an FSU alumna (B.S. Political Science & Economics ’24; B.A. English ’24) – has made significant contributions to the Broward County Public Defender’s Office, where she has held multiple roles. She is currently serving as a legal assistant in the Felony Division.
Sophia Persichini – an FSU alumna (B.S. Political Science & Studio Art ’25) – defended her Honors in the Major thesis, “A Legal Guide for Emerging Artists: Navigating Copyright, Contracts, and Artificial Intelligence.”
Sophia Solomon – an FSU alumna [Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) ’25] – defended her Honors in the Major thesis and presented it at the Southern Sociological Society in Charlotte, NC on April 10, 2025.
