FSU Askew Faculty Awarded $10,000 Grant to Study Earned Wage Access and Economic Mobility

Two faculty from Florida State University’s Reubin O’D. Askew School of Public Administration and Policy have been awarded a $10,000 grant provided by the International City/County Management Association with the support of the Gates Foundation for the project “An Evaluation of Earned Wage Access as a Strategy to Support Economic Mobility Among Municipal Employees in Tallahassee.” 

Raoul Lavin, MPA, teaching faculty and co-director of the Askew School’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, serves as the project’s principal investigator (PI). He is joined by Danielle Atkins, Ph.D., associate professor of public administration.

Florida State University’s Reubin O’D. Askew School of Public Administration and Policy has once again earned high marks for its master’s and doctoral programs, recognizing the school’s top-notch curriculum and hands-on learning. The Askew School, part of FSU’s College of Social Sciences and Public Policy, moved up five spots to No. 4 nationally and nine spots to No. 14 globally in ShanghaiRanking’s 2025 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS).

The GRAS highlights the best institutions globally based on world-class faculty, world-class output, high-quality research, research impact and international collaboration. This latest rise in the rankings is driven by its international academic awards, highly regarded journal articles and impactful scholarly publications.

FSU Among Top Schools with Three Graduates in Prestigious ICMA Local Government Fellowship

Three recent graduates from Florida State University’s Askew School of Public Administration and Policy have been selected for the prestigious International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Local Government Management Fellowship, a highly competitive program that places emerging public service professionals in management-track positions with local governments across the United States.

FSU’s 2025 Fellows are Jessie Yuan (MPA ’25), placed with the City of Durham, North Carolina; Taniya Williams (MPA ’24), working with the City of Phoenix, Arizona; and Harrison Netburn (MPA ’24), serving in Pinellas County, Florida.
