William Pribula – a COSSPP master’s student studying Demography – received the 2023 Charles B. Nam Scholarship from the Center for Demography and Population Health (CDPH).
Graduates, families, faculty, and staff gathered in the Bellamy Atrium on Friday, August 4, to celebrate the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy’s newest graduates. Over 400 COSSPP graduates joined Florida State University’s 400,000 living graduates worldwide.
Three COSSPP students were awarded travel scholarships to attend the 2023 Population Association of America’s (PAA) Annual Meeting in New Orleans from April 12–15.
Rolando Valdes – COSSPP alumnus and current Master’s student majoring in Demography – currently works full-time for the Florida Department of Transportation as a Data and Legislative Analyst.
The Peter F. McManus Trust awarded a $13,000+ grant to John Taylor, Ph.D., Professor of Sociology and Director of the Center for Demography and Population Health, to analyze pre-intervention risk factors associated with substance use.
COSSPP researchers published a study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in February 2022 that estimates exposure to lead has robbed Americans on average 2.6 IQ points per person. The study was groundbreaking, garnering widespread interest from news media and reaching over 1.5 billion.
Professor of Sociology John Taylor, Ph.D., was named Director of the Center for Demography and Population Health (CDPH) this August.
